wait, you turn the car on and the power steering light is on?
that means there is a problem with your power steering.

Here is one of the most popular threads on the topic: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tro...ailure-107481/

short answer: it's most likely your power steering harness. You might want to consider cleaning the connectors (that is discussed in the thread) or replacing the harness completely. (what I did when my PS failed)

hope that helps

That light if, I'm not mistaken, is on when there's a problem with the electronic power steering. I would try cleaning the gray power steering connectors located under the tray for the airbox. My '8 has done this on two occasions and simply disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors has done it for me.

GageSilveira: if it's done it twice already I wouldn't be surprised to see it come back again. Those harnesses are quite... tempermental.

Have you extended the coolant tank overflow hose yet?
I recommend everyone do that.

I'm going to go with the cleaning the connector option tomorrow and see if that does it.

Also, look into extending the coolant hose, or just get a some sort of aluminum twsit it in a V shape, and attach it upside down on top of the connector and below the hose, that way overflow coolant wont touch the connector.

jedi54: I actually completely cut the connector out and soldered the wires instead I don't expect the problem to return now.
