What's a fair offer price for this RX8?

I'm in the market for a RX-8 and looking for a clean automatic and found this one on Autotrader...

It's a 2004, brand new engine with paperwork, and has a bunch of nice looking modifications on it, body has 118,000 miles on it.

Cars for Sale: 2004 Mazda RX-8 in Naperville, IL 60565: Coupe Details - 408696862 - Autotrader

He's asking $9000 for it, but KBB comes in at around $4600 for a car with 118,000 miles on it, not taking into account the new engine...

What would be a fair price for this RX-8 to purchase?

Thanks!

Don't even buy a 4 port auto RX-8. That price is absolutely nuts. Worth is subjective of course.

If I was motivated, I'd buy it (at a better price), remove the body and the goodies, sell as a parts car and buy a better one.

But that's just me...

For you, I recommend reading the new and potential owners thread and learn about the car before buying.

Being a 4 port engine, the hideous body modifications, 118k miles, and a 2004, I would offer $4500 tops. Sure it has a new engine, but it's still a 4 port.

What hideous body modifications are you talking about?

Wheels, odd looking wide mouth front bumper, goofy hood holes.

Looks are subjective, so I won't argue- but it's a genuine Mazdaspeed body kit, highly sought after and respected.

But to each their own.

The body kit is worth more than the car.

Wow... that "odd looking" front bumper is the mazdaspeed bumper.... : / and as 9K said... you'd basically be paying for the kit in this purchase, not the car...

I have to say that after looking at more photos of the Mazda Speed bumper, I like it BUT with the mustache as seen from 9krpmrx8's photos:
