Want to give my RX-8 some TLC
Hi all,
I've owned my RX-8 from new (2007) and it's been an amazing car and well-behaved considering the stories I've heard about them. However, it's getting on a bit, done 57,500 miles and I've not been the best at getting it serviced regularly etc.
Anyway, last week, it broke down for the first time ever (loss of power, horrible sound, wouldn't go over 2500 rpm) and luckily, the garage managed to get it running again with a replacement coil pack and sparks.
At one point I thought I was going to have to scrap it, so when I got it back, I stroked the steering wheel and told it how much I loved it. This has given me a bit of a kick up the ****, and I'd like to give it some love and attention and was hoping that the fine people of this forum could help point me in the right direction for getting a good few more years out of my Zoom-zoom.
What steps should I take and how much is it likely to cost?

In addition to that ^^^, if you had to replace the coils, check that your catalytic converter hasn't been damaged. Take it down and check it visually. If it's clogged or broken, don't drive on it.
Don't forget those ignition wires. If your coils and plugs were changed then be sure to change the wires too. Any weak link in your ignition can cause the same fatal damage to your rotary engine and cat. Top condition of all ignition components is most critical to the health and performance of a rotary engine and cat, even more so than in a piston engine car.
