Tuning for Beginners, Fan Temps, Cat Delete

I just got a 2004 GT with 15k miles. I want to install an BHR catless midpipe and a 170 Deg thermostat. As a result I was wanted to program the ECU fan temps and eliminate the potential to get a cat CEL.

Is there an easy inexpensive way to do this? Does anyone offer this kind of service? I am in Knoxville, TN.

I could not find this level of detail on the Cobb website. Maybe I am missing something. I looked at the Mazdamaniac website but there is no number to call or any specific capabilities listed. Is there someplace else that can give me the specifics? Can the base unit do these things or do I need to pay additional to have a custom program written or buy another programming tool to program the AP?

Once you have a accessport you can download the tuning program and change most of the importnt things on your car. As for cel and temps. That is very easy. If you can send an email you can probably change them on your own. To do more will take a bunch of learning or finding someone to help you.

What are the options for tuning programs? Any free or inexpensive that can do it?

cobb used for 300-350 or new for 600 or so

Mazdaedit(probably a little more compley) for 425 New. I've never seen it for saleused.

Other then that everything gets very expensive and even more complex.

Mazdaedit will give you access to all the maps on your car(something like 400), Cobb is only about 100 of them. I have no clue how much of mazdaedit is defined. Cobb it decently defined and there is a lot more about cobb on rx8club. They both adjust the same maps so there should be some crossover between cobb info to mazdaedit info, but not very clear.
