VA Temporary loss of power

My grandson with a 2004 RX8 called me for help. As he entered an intersection the engine lost power and all warning lights came on.. He was able to creep to the shoulder and turned it off. It immediately restarted and the problem has not reappeared. I am aware that on some vehicles (Mercedes) a battery or alternator problem causes the computer to do this. Since he was in the turn lane he must have been on the brakes, could that create this problem. Thanks for helping this senior granddad help his worried grandson.

Hello fellow Grandpa, I have not experienced this, but I believe that is what's called "limp mode".
You might search rx8club limp mode till someone more knowledgeable responds.
Good luck!

Oops, sorry, I didn't catch it being a one time thing.
Check if the battery's secure, and terminals are clean & tight for starters.

Transmission is manual. Unfortunately I don't have the mileage _I am in VA he is in Louisiana and presently not available. I do know that the radiator was recently replaced and the alternator was more recently replaced - both with Mazda parts. - Thanks for the responses
