Cat problems

So the catless mid pipe does that still lose performance? I'm wanting to cut costs and chances of a failed cat and engine because of a cat going out.

Yes, a properly resonated midpipe.

In my opinion, BHR's midpipe is the only one that does this successfully. The only other midpipe that "works" is the Racing Beat Dual Resonated pipe, however I personally think that it only somewhat solves the problem, and that there is still too much rasp and drone. The BHR midpipe has zero rasp and zero drone, keeps the tone of the catback as it would have been if you had a cat installed, and lasts for at leasy 80k+. I haven't heard of a failure yet, but am not sure how much mileage has been put on them. My original BHR midpipe has at least 80ish k on it now, and it still sounds exactly the same as when i installed it (only it's on someone else's car locally, I no longer have an 8)

Other people find other exhaust combinations acceptable, based on their preferences and tastes.

Removing the cat will always result in a performance increase. It is pretty much the ONLY garuanteed performance gain for the RX-8.

Ken
Hence the reason why I bought a different midpipe to tone the exhaust down. Also around where I live most modifed cars run straight pipe and loud exhaust.

I unlike your unlike.
Extremely loud is extremely irritating, especially in a residential neighborhood where people who may work nightshift or have to get up very early are trying to sleep.

My mistake, I misinterpreted your reply to the post regarding neighbors.
