Starter problem

Hey guys got a question! My starter was running a little slow so pulled it out ,cleaned it all out, lubed it up a little, reassembled and put it back in( it's an updated starter). When i started it the the car the starter worked better than ever. But once the car is warm the starter wont crank at all until it cools. The solenoid still engages just wont crank. Ive pulled the starter off again and bench test and it runs a perfect. Put back on the car started fine, ran for 20 mins and wouldn't start again. It's off the car agin now and runs fine on the bench. I've been reading up on heat soak, but i can't understand why it wasn't doing it before. Any ideas?

you got new coils, plugs and wires? Also do a compression test.

i've read that we should buy the upgraded starter since it has faster engagement.
