We often hear that the Rotary engine is a lot like a two cycle
engine in that the oil is mixed, in some manner, with the fuel.
The outboard community seems to be excited about the Star Tron "Ring Clean".
I see the the edge blades in the rotary much like the piston rings
in an outboard. They seem to preform the same basic function..
I have used Star fuel Stabilizer for many years on a boat with diesel engines.
After thousands of gallons I never had any water in the diesel fuel filter.
I use it all my cars... They seem to put out a good product.

Is anyone using this product to try to clean up the blades and the walls?.
It would be great if someone actually opened up an engine after using it..

Manufacturers (car/powersports) themselves have made combustion chamber cleaner and top end cleaner for years, and those products have even been made to solve various warranty problems, and have been put in internal service bulletins because they actually do work.

This place gets really tiring at times.

A long time ago a burger joint went into business selling burgers and all the other
stuff that went with them. But the unique thing about them was they were an old fashion
drive in that they had "car hops". Mostly girls but there was an occasional boy. It's possible that the girls
took to teasing him and gave him the name "Sonicdaboy". Maybe this is where
the formentioned poster adopted the name. A little updated but that's OK...
Now, I'm not necessarily picking on him, I'm just trying to get the bottom of the post by TeamRX8...

Only “cleaner” I’ve seen anyone discuss is ATF left to soak hoping to free up carbon locked apex seals, Seafoam to do the same (did Mazda have their version of this?) and water misted all to deal with frozen seals due to carbon. I know the ATF soak works from a local friend on this site. Not sure how the water is applied because I have “blown up engine trauma” as a young guy “hydraulicing” an engine and so have avoided this method.

Seafoam and water are administered the same way (the seafoam method, sucked in through the service port or brake booster), and have about the same effect, but water is cheaper.

99% of cleaner that you mix in with fuel will burn up and go out the exhaust... like fuel. This particular one is 90% petroleum distillates, based on the MSDS, probably toluene, benzene, stuff you find in fuel already, just more of it. The remaining 10% is secret ingredient, which could be anything, including nothing. Will it help? Who knows, one way to find out. But at 10% of 1% actually getting to the seals (not blades), I'm not holding my breath. There are comparisons videos on youtube of many different cleaners and while some do better than others, they're still more expensive than water and none do spectacularly better.

My RX8 has only 34K on it. Adding this stuff to the fuel can't hurt as far as I see at this time.. I'm a "permixer". I'm going to do some more reading on this in the boating users group to see if there is really some benefit to using it. I don't see any down side to using it as of now..

Right now I am doing a bunch of upgrades to the car.
Radiator screens, coils, plugs, plug wires, low temper oil cooler thermostat, speed bleeders, Stainless brake hoses, lower temp radiator fan switch, Stainless brake hoses,

I got my daughter through collage so now I'm spending her money.....

Mazda themselves have a product for this under their own label, or did anyway.

Combustion chamber cleaner has been around for 50 years. Not snake oil.

Steam cleaning works great too. Anybody here do a few head gaskets? Most likely the idea for steam cleaning came after the first failed head gasket.

it's a bandaid on a bullet hole known as low comp.

I helped riwwp with the distilled water vs seafoam tests. I'm not saying it didn't do anything, It "washed" some carbon on the rotor face but less so than the water.
I think 9k had it right that they used to to push the timeframe of needing a replacement down the line so it's out of warranty.

If OP wants to spend their money and feel better about their car they can I never said otherwise.
