Speedometer Issue 2005 Rx8 Shinka

When I’m driving my speedometer will go blank and won’t show my speed it’ll show dashes and a blink of my speed and switch back and forth from kmh to mph

Sounds like a poor connection to the vehicle speed sensor, which is on the transmission. Or dead/dirty sensor, but my bet is wiring.
Have you ever had the trans or the engine out of the car? Potentially the wiring got pinched during re-installation.

Hang on, is this an automatic? If so the here is the VSS location: VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
If it's a manual, something else's going on. Manual gets speed from the speed sensors at each wheel (or some of the wheels, not sure). Do you also have DSC/ABS lights on?
