OH So how noisy is a de-catted RX8

Considering a Cat-extomy. I'll probably replace it with a mid pipe. Currently no emission sniffing in Ohio but you never know when those knuckle heads will decided they need that income so I'd prefer to keep it and have it 'just in case'.

It seems like there are two mid pipes out there, with and without resonators.

I actually kind of like the quiet stock exhaust. I don't need to give the po-po any advance warning that I'm coming Especially since this is my daily driver.

So I'm a little concerned about how much louder it will be.

Would appreciate if someone can fill me in.

depends on the midpipe

BHR: Not much different noise than OEM

Racing Beat: A tad louder than BHR, but not by much

TurboXS / AP / etc : Stupid Loud

Paimon - Every RB/MazSport I've heard is quieter than the BHR. Sounds almost no different than stock catted actually... Unless the packed RB/MazSport resonators are burnt out?

Well I guess it really also comes down to what you have installed after the midpipe.

I have heard an S1 with RB midpipe and RB exhaust that was a wee bit louder than my BHR w/ OEM exhaust.

I have the stock muffler. I bought a cheap CAT with no resignator, and I figured it would be terrible. I gutted the thing and insalled it. I don't even notice it, except on hard acceleration. Trust there is nothing special about what I have.

I have the BHR res. midpipe with stock muffler, just a bit louder, I like the tone at WOT, a bit of a hiss idling, but it's not bad. Fit and quality are very good.
