I have a clutch fork rattle when the clutch is not pushed in. I went under the car with the clutch pedal up, and the rattle stops when i slightly push the slave rod away from the fork. Which means the slave rod is slightly pressing on the fork causing it to rattle when the clutch pedal is up. It seems to me that when I let the pedal go, the slave cylinder is not releasing fully or is it something else like the master? I just bled the slave earlier. It shifts better but the rattle is still there. Clutch is in good condition. Any ideas?
fluid is dirty and very old. i would flush the slave cylinder as you bleed it. hopefully that will fix the issue, if not replace the system.
other idea is you have a clutch pedal starting to fail..
all this is a good guess as you give no info on year and mileage.

The clutch pedal is brand new, a couple months old. Issue was there before I had slave and master replaced by a shop. When they replaced them, the rattling was gone for about a month. That was a year ago so for the fluid to get so dirty is odd right? It's like they didn't flush it.
when I was bleeding it a couple days ago I saw the new fluid finally come out of the slave but then turned black again.
Guys I just noticed something that I didn't the first time around because of my limited experience with the clutch components. The slave rod is not going through the clutch fork which I think is not right? All the pictures of the rx8 slave I've seen have the rod going all the way through and actually pulling the fork back when the clutch pedal is let go? This would explain the rattling since my slave rod is barely touching the fork when the clutch pedal is up, and when the clutch pedal is pushed in, the rod still doesn't go through, but instead, it just kind of presses on the fork. Am I correct?
