It's going for cheap but I want to know if you guys think it's simple or hard?

RX8 with 60k miles. Car is not starting. Was working the previous day. Radiator looks like it was leaking. I'm thinking the engine could possibly dead? seller says it might be flooded but he sounds like a noob.

If it's flooded, the pull the plugs, crank to remove excess fuel, reinstall plugs. But get it running and then a compression test BEFORE you buy it unless it's so cheap that you don't care if it needs major work or not.

 

My 8 has been flooded before and it hasn't been a BIG problem for me when it happens. You can look up some videos on YouTube and probably some tutorials in here also on how to deflood. I've heard of pulling fuses and plugs and what not and "don't do that or else it will catch fire." Whenever mine floods it usually doesn't take too long unless it's been sitting for a few weeks. Im not 100% sure about the specifics, but this is what I do.I crank it with my foot ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE GAS then after about 5 seconds or so you let up off the gas. Obviously the worse the flooding the more it will take.

especially flooding on a test drive and the car started the previous day

 

No it is not normal for new (2003 + ) rotaries to flood often.
Flooding happens due to weak ignition components or mostly because of instant cold start and shut off without letting the car warm up properly.

Back to OP... if you suspect the car is flooded, then easiest option for your will be, take a few buddies with you. Push the car and let the clutch out slowly in 2nd gear..

That should do the trick if it's flooded. Even if the car starts, you must get a compression test done at Mazda or at a rotary shop to be sure that engine is not toasted.

A weak battery can cause flooding also.
