Screw in Muffler

So I got my 8 about a month ago and from the beginning there was a rattle in the muffler. It wasn't a big deal but now it's getting annoying. Obviously I can't see inside the muffler but it really seems like someone put a screw or something in through one of the exhaust tips. I looked under the car and the connection to the rest of the exhaust is pretty rusty and I'm guessing I would have to get new hardware to put the muffler back on. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get the stupid thing out?

M8 or M10 exhaust studs at Advance or Autozone are like $8 for a pack of 5 with nuts. Grab some, unbolt what you have, cutting them if you have to, then remove the muffler, shake the piece of metal out, and reinstall with the new hardware.

It may not be a screw though, it may be pieces of your cat, which is somewhat more likely.

Now that you mention it, I bet that's what it was. The engine was killed by a bad cat (luckily under warranty).
