I recently purchased an rx8 with 80k miles. soon after i had misfiring problems so i replaced my ignition coils and wires, which helped with faster starts but still the misfire on a coldstart after sitting for 24hr. every time the car sits for a long period of time the engine will take slightly longer than 3 seconds to start and i get about 2 solid minutes of thick sweet smelling white smoke. the smoke goes away after driving the car a little, but this is a constant issue. everyone i have talked with says i need either a rebuild or a new engine, and i was wondering what the possibilities are for fixing this issue. my hopes are to find someone who is capable of a rebuild (or some type of rotary experience) within a 4 hour drive of sacramento or really anyone who might know a good course of action that i should take. my budget to fix this issue is 3k at the very max if i sell myself into slavery

 

sounds like a coolant seal and or possible bad housing or iron. cheapest is to pull engine yourself, send core to mazda and buy a reman
