RX8 engine swap question

RX8 engine swap question
So my 2004 automatic blew up on me again...
My dad is doing the swap for me. We bought a 2006 manual engine and we notice the 2006 has 6 injectors- rather than 4- and a different intake plenum. We have the 2006 ECU should we use a 2006 RX8 engine wiring harness for an automatic trans? The 2004 harness is missing the 2 extra injector connectors... Anyone have any advice?!?!
Thank you!!

Everything I have read here suggests that what you are about to attempt, while possible is a major PITA. I recommend you find another 4 port auto motor rather than try to put a 6 port where a 4 port is supposed to go.

Unfortunately, you bought the wrong engine.
2004 and 2005 Automatic transmission equipped RX-8s have 4-port engines.
2004-2008 Manual transmission equipped RX-8s, and 2006-2008 Automatic transmission equipped RX-8s use 6-port engines
The 6 port engine is not directly compatible with a car that is set up for a 4-port engine, and vise versa. It will cost you at least several thousand to make your car compatible to take the 6-port. Read this thread if you want a more detailed list: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-spe...4/#post2563386 (it swaps the transmissions too, but all the electrical, ECU, fuel injectors, intake hardware, etc... is the core problem you have)
I highly recommend selling the engine you bought and finding a 4-port engine. (the importance of researching first)

Hi Kellilynn,
Did you manage to fix the problem you had? I also am experiencing the exact same problem and in need of assistance
