RX8 Cranks but won't start.... (Help please!)

If you're reading this, thanks! I've searched for similar problems, but with no luck. Here are the symptoms....

-Starter cranks wonderfully (same speed when jumped off my F150)

-There's a small hint of the engine trying to start (just a chug once every second or two)

-I've tried the deflood procedure multiple times with no sign of improvement, it's obvious when the fuel is cutoff (pedal to the floor) because the chug disappears

-BEST PART -It bump (roll) starts and runs beautifully after (small amount of smoke right after starting)

-New plugs, leads, and ignition coils

-I found the crankshaft position sensor covered in gunk, cleaned but no improvement in starting.

-It seems like there's a lot of excess oil in the intake, even the filter had absorbed some

-Fuel pump makes the normal sound, and hey it runs after a bump start

-2004 with 108,000 miles (Just out of the 8yr 100K warranty)

Any help would be great:) THaNkS!!

clean the airflow sensor, clean out the intake, disconnect catalytic to prevent destroying it with gasoline (though you probably already have), disconnect the battery for 30 mins to clear the computer so it can relearn the car.

also please upload a video if possible

is this before or after doing what i advised? it sounds like it could still be flooded but wants to kick over. you could have fouled your spark plugs from being flooded. also disconnect your catalytic if you havent done so yet. do you smell fuel coming from your exhaust? has oil reappeared in the intake or on the crank sensor since you last cleaned? and finally, is there any way you could check the check engine light?

It may be flooded. After you did the deflood procedure, it sounded like it wanted to start for a second. Are all your spark plugs inserted correctly? Also, after you deflood it, make sure your battery isn't half dead because that may cause you to flood your engine again. So deflood, charge battery (or jump), and hope it starts up.

I'm having the exact problem,I replaced spark plugs, starter, new battery, new ignition/starter relays, and still doing the same,it starts by push starting it but it would die if the Rpm's drop at a stop sign or pulling into the driveway, the starter sounds good but there isn't any spark like his,I do smell some gas sometimes when trying to start it,I'm getting the check engine light checked tomorrow,I have also tried the deflood process several times

My car died out of town last Monday a week after a oil change at Jiffy Lube that left me with black oil. I parked it one night after a flashing engine light going on and off and loosing power on the freeway to have it crank but not start the next day. I cleaned the carbon out of ssv valve and put new plugs and battery in but now it starts with a few tries but the idol is low and dies when you pull up to a stop sign. Doing an oil change because I was told to much or to little pressure can cause this and it's dirty and don't know what jiffy lube did so I am doing it myself. Any ideas how to fix the idol??

Keeping the Engine at an Idle
• Ignition Coils
• Spark Plugs
• Spark Plug Wires
• Engine Compression
• E-Shaft Sensor (ESS)
• Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)
• Front O2 sensor
• Catalytic Converter (Cat)
• Intake Vaccum

Eliminate the items you have already addressed and check the others on this list. A flashing engine light is always a misfire.
