RX-8 Club User Code of Conduct and other rules

RX8Club.com - FAQ: RX8Club.com Forum Rules

User Conduct
1. Attacks on moderators will not be tolerated, and may result in an immediate permanent ban. Moderators sometimes have to make difficult judgment calls, but remember we *are* human (well at least most of us are!) Hopefully we'll make decisions that are considered "correct" by the majority of the community. Do not post complaints, criticisms, or moderation questions on the forum. These posts will be deleted and no explanation will be given. If you have a concern about a particular moderator, send a private message to a Super Moderator or Administrator. And if you have constructive suggestions on improvements that can be made to the forum or its moderation, please post them in the Suggestions area.

2. Keep in mind that this is not a democracy. We have the right to refuse service to anyone. If you make yourself too big of a pain in the butt to the moderating community or otherwise are a bad influence on the forum, your access may be revoked.

3. This is not a flame war site, so please do not engage in such. No distinction will be made between the instigator and those who merely participate.

4. Personal attacks against other forum members will not be tolerated, nor will any type of "trolling" for a fight. This includes political attacks, slurs, or sneering at any viewpoint or political party.

5. No racist, homophobic, or misogynistic remarks, including derogatory slang, be it overt or covert, will be tolerated.

6. Be respectful. This is harder to define, but will be moderated. An example would be disrespecting RX-8 owners who chose an automatic transmission over a manual, and "sneering" at them or acting like they're idiots for the choice they made. If a moderator believes you are being purposefully disrespectful to a fellow member, you will be notified. Bashing for the sake of bashing will not be tolerated.

7. Don't make slanderous accusations. If you have a problem with another member or business, and cannot prove it absolutely, don’t bring in into the forum. It could be treated as grounds for a lawsuit if you do. Provide your proof in any such posts. Post with accusations but no proof will be deleted, and the poster will be notified. If your beef is over a purchase/sales experience, we have an area of the forum devoted to that, the "Good Guy/Bad Guy" forum.

8. No sexually explicit material, nudity, or graphic violence are to be posted. The rule of thumb is that if it's something you wouldn't see on network TV, don't post it. The forum strives to maintain a welcoming and family type atmosphere for its members. Any attempts, overt or covert, to undermine this goal will not be tolerated.

9. If you are posting a new thread, do not use vulgarity in the title of the thread. Inside a thread, profanity will only be allowed if used in a controlled manner, and not directed at a particular forum member. Again, just try and be respectful of other forum members.

10. Attacks on new forum members (or "Noobies") will not be tolerated. Remember we were all new to the forum once.

11. Do not post a thread solely aimed at getting the attention of another forum member (i.e. posting ATTENTION FRED SMITH!) The forum provides a private messaging system for contacting individual forum members.

12. Posts soliciting for multilevel marking schemes (e.g. Free Ipod or similar) are not allowed, nor are any posts soliciting donations for ANY reason without special permission from forum Administration.

13. Multiple posts about the same thing across many forums are considered "spamming" the site and may result in the poster being banned.

14. Please include a descriptive subject for your thread. People shouldn't have to open the thread to find out what the topic is!

15. We do not have a street racing or "kills" forum on this site, and threads or posts about street racing will not be tolerated. These types of posts inevitably turn into flamewars, which nobody wins. Also, any forum member caught trolling and intentionally instigating a flame war on any other auto enthusiast forum gets an immediate 1-week ban; protesting this action results in a permanent ban.

16. Do not deliberately inflate your post count, aka "post-whoring" by responding to a thread with multiple responses when one would do, or "contributing" to threads with a constant string of "me to" or "yeah!" type comments. This has been tolerated in the past but will be no longer. Deliberately inflating one's post count does nothing but waste server space and turn otherwise useful threads into impossible to navigate pages of junk. If you want to chit chat, go to the lounge where useless threads are the norm. :-)

17. Do not start threads or submit posts on religion or politics in the Lounge area or anywhere else. Experience with the forum has proven that political or religious discussions inevitably become flamefests, which are prohibited (see the first rule above). So don't start them.

18. Allowable sales of items must be done via our Classified section, and users must read and agree to the Classifed Section Rules (below).

19. RX8Club forum has a very useful search feature. Many questions that new members might have will already have been answered - we recommend that you do a search first before posting a question.

Signatures and Avatars

Signatures and Avatars
1. Custom signatures are enabled, but any graphics used in such signatures are limited to a 20K file size with dimensions no larger than 500 pixels x 200 pixels.

2. Signatures are limited to six lines of regular text, including blank lines, or the equivalent size in picture, or picture/text combination.

3. There is currently no system to automatically check for signature size limits, so Admins and Moderators will be checking manually. Should your sig be found in violation, you will be asked to fix it; if you don't comply, it may be removed without warning. It is your responsibility to edit your sig and bring it within compliance.

4. Custom avatars are allowed, subject to a limit of a 8K file size and a 100x100 pixel image size. These limits are enforced automatically; the system will not allow you to upload an avatar image that exceeds them.

5. Banners or information linking to vendor sites ARE NOT ALLOWED in signatures unless the vendor being listed is a paying site vendor.

6. Signature and avatar content is subject to the same rules as forum posts. As a rule of thumb, if we won't allow it in a thread, it's not allowed in a signature. Moderators reserve the right to edit or remove any signature, avatar, or avatar caption as we deem necessary.

  • By using this free service you recognize that RX8club.com and/or rx7club.com can in no way be held liable for the accuracy of statements made by users of the service, or any claims arising from transactions made by users of the service.
  • Buyer beware! Buyer beware! Buyer beware! If possible try to make the deal in person.
  • If you decide to conduct the transaction over the internet try to cover yourself. Keep track of ALL correspondence! If you have any doubts try using an escrowe service for anything that costs more than $100 and is being shipped...
  • Buyers MUST keep a record of their payment whether it's a copy of a money order or a paypal email (Save the original email along with all of it's headers). Make sure it has the seller's name on it.
Sellers MUST USE a traceable method of shipment and remember to write the buyer's address on it. This usually only costs a few bucks extra.
  • I know there's no way I can enforce these two rules BUT if there is a dispute I expect BOTH sides to present proof of payment or shipment. If a dispute arises and you don't have proof be ready to be banned from the forums.
  • Please don't bother the site owner/moderators with things that aren't from this board. If you meet someone and they sell you something extra that's your problem. It's not that we don't care, we just don't have the time to deal with this sort of thing.
  • Remember moderator(s) don't get paid a cent for policing this, so keep that in mind when you complain to the admin(s)/moderator(s)!
  • No Dealers, unless you use the group buy section and get permission from Omicron!! A dealer is defined as anyone who is selling more than 2 of the same product.
  • If you sell your item(s) please notify others by posting an update
  • No selling stuff on behalf of other people. If they can't sell it themselves that's their own problem. Don't make it yours.
  • Remember, there are people from all over the world here so remember to specify the currency.
  • If you are found to be ripping anyone off you will be put on the 'good guy/bad guy' section by the buyer and be banned.
  • Please no thread crapping, if you think something is over priced the seller will usually figure this out pretty quickly.
  • No thread hijacking. (when someone posts a FS/WTB/FT thread and you post 'me too!')
  • If you're using Paypal only accept money from verified buyers, if you're selling accept from verfied sellers. You have been warned.
  • If you get ripped off you can contact the fbi here: FBI Internet Fraud Complaint Center. If someone knows the Canadian equivalent please send me a message.
  • If something sounds too good to be true it probably is.
  • All items MUST have an asking price, this is not an auction site.
  • Try to keep the number of NEW threads to a mininum per member (if you have 5 different things to sell at once don't put post 5 different threads).
  • No excessive thread bumping, a bump every 2 or 3 days is fine.
  • Please place where you are located in the heading of the thread when you are b/s/t on the forum (this makes everything so much easier)
  • Remember to always leave a feedback after a transaction (dont bother if it was for $2!!!)
  • If possible try to make your buy/sell/trade post subject look something like this:
    > state if it is FS/FT/WTB
    > describe the product
    > state the price (With currency) (if it's a FS ad)
    > state the location
    > use the specific section, put them where it belongs(3rd gen in 3rd gen section and so forth)
  • No illegal software
  • Dangerous, counterfeit or stolen goods
    > Goods which do not actually exist
    > Food
    > Alcoholic beverages
    > Cigarettes or any other tobacco products
    > Pharmaceuticals or any other controlled substance
    > Any good that infringes or violates anyone's rights
    > Any item which in RX8CLUB's sole discretion is inflammatory, offensive or otherwise inconsistent with RX8CLUB's standards of business ethics.
    > Any messages, data, or images that might be considered by a reasonable person to be obscene or which contain racial, ethnic, religious slurs or derogatory epithets, or advocating violence, hate or other language that is deeply or widely offensive.
  • Your FS/WTB Classified have to post in the correct section, otherwise it will be deleted.

......and if you don't like the price, move on. There is no need to comment or post how your "bud is selling one for half that price." Let the market work and the price may fall, but it doesn't need your input........S

- RX8Club is not a general classified ad site; please do not post for sale ads for your used car (unless it's an RX-8), your apartment for sublease, or your used furniture, etc. These types of ads will be removed. In the RX-8s For Sale forum, the forum is ONLY for the sale of rotary engine powered vehicles.

- No "How much is this car worth?" type threads. To determine this, do a basic scan on Autotrader.com, Ebaymotors.com, etc. to figure out what the average price is for a given car. Threads posted here asking our members to estimate the value of your car will be deleted.

Advertising on the site
These rules were put in place to preserve the financial status of this site. Hosting costs are VERY expensive. In order for us to continue providing it as a free service to users all over the world, we must generate some revenue. It's only fair that you, as a vendor, pay for promotion of your product.

1. We have MANY ways to allow you to promote your company. Please contact us at AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com for more information.

2. NO FREE ADVERTISING WILL BE ALLOWED!!! If you have a product you wish to promote to the RX-8 community, then you MUST purchase advertising on this site. This includes even if the product/service you're wanting to post is "just so you (or a friend) can help out members." You can be SURE that SOMEONE is making money, and to do that via our sites IS NEVER FREE. Sorry.

3. Group Buys for products ARE considered advertising, and must be paid for and arranged for via AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com. If you wish to organize a Group Buy, again please contact us at AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com for more information.

4. Effective 1/1/07, Group Buys (and in some cases, Forum Vendorship) may require that the vendor provide proof of identity, address, and contact information, and a copy of your business license if you have one. Please contact us at AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com for more information.

5. If you cannot reach us at AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com then DO NOT ASSUME it's ok tu run your GroupBuy or Advertising. ANY Group Buys or Advertising NOT ARRANGED by AutoAdvertiser@internetbrands.com WILL BE REMOVED.

6. Paying site Vendors must follow the forum rules just like anyone else. If a vendor is found to not be following them, this may be considered to be a violation of Terms of Service and their access may be revoked. If this occurs, any money paid will NOT be refunded.
