RIP Rotor #2

Hey Guys,

2004 RX8. Motor was replaced by Mazda about 40k miles ago, but on the road last week I lost power and the car stalled out. Wouldn't start.

Took it home and swapped coils/plugs and it started, but sounded horrible and wouldn't stay running.

I threw a compression tester on and i'm getting 0/0/0 on the 2nd rotor. I've never seen NO compressoin on all 3 faces before. Usually apex failure would show compression on one face, and side seal would just have really low Comp showing. but the gauge doesn't even blip

Before this, car was running fine. I had some SSV issues (swapped air pump/ssv solenoid) but it still had the shutter around around 5500 rpm.

Has anyone seen a motor with absolutely no compression? With the plug out, it's barely pushing any air out the plug hole, and not making the standard "pffft" noise when cranked.

Paul

not to sure about the compression being 0 on all 3 faces.

Curious to know where are you sourcing a new motor from? is it brand new or a reman?

I have seen zero compression on a rotor before. A couple of times actually.
