MD Returning Member - New to me 2005 Shinka 6MT

Hey everybody. I've been a member on here for a while. I had a WWP 2005 AT about 8 years ago. My Ex-Wife ended up selling it while I was away for training in the military. One of the reasons there's an EX in front of the word wife there lol.

But I just came back to the RX8 scene yesterday with this purchase of this awesome 2005 Shinka Edition 6MT. Only 39k on the clock and I got it incredibly cheap. Has a few dents and dings in it. From my understanding the previous owners now ex-wife stole it in their divorce and traded it in. I'm guessing the dents and dings came from her getting upset with him over something lol. Nothing too crazy though.

She runs great, Clean title, and I already bought 2 quarts of Amsoil Sabre FS 2 stroke to premix with since I can buy it in person where I'm at. I plan on replacing the rear bumper, hood, and front bumper soon. Looking at 1 of the 2 Odula Front Bumpers, probably a vented CF hood, and a Mazdaspeed rear bumper and side skirts. Just glad to be back in the group though and looking forward to turning this girl into my backroads killer

Neat deal. My brother works at MA motorsports in MD. I can't say how good they are with rotaries, but if you need at a minimum a reputable shop that's one.

Oh I think they're right around the corner fron me too. my brother actually runs a diesel shop(Mad Scientist Diesel Repair) in Aberdeen MD. Rotaries aren't his deal either but hes an awesome mechanic. I help him out over summers when I have more free time. The rest of the year I'm in school on top of my IT job though so I'm too busy. I'll check out MA motorsports though when I get a chance.

Man almost 200 views and only 1 guy comments. I see the forum isn't as welcoming as it once was.

Question though if anyone has an answer. The guy before me wired up a toggle switch to 2 fuses on the interior fuse panel by the dead pedal. Does anyone have a pic of what the different fuses are for down there or know if this is something commonly done? I don't have the cover for the fuse panel so I can't simply look on the back of it and see what they're for. And I've tried searching to see if this is something anyone else has done and I haven't had any luck finding anything.

Thanks man I just need a shot of what those fuses do. At first I thought it was a fuel cutoff switch in case the engine floods to make things easier, but I believe those fuses are located under the hood and not in the interior panel. So I have no clue wtf it does. I'll update with a picture of it when I get off work though. OR when i get to bored and decide to walk out and look at it lol.

Welcome back!

Hey, your ex did you a favor by selling that AT for you.

Just kidding.

Good luck, and have fun!

Thanks guys. 200.mph and I were talking about it on Friday and I couldn't figure out what the switch is wired to. It's routed to the bottom spare slot above M. Def and below A/C. He think's it may have been wired for Nitrous, but there's no evidence in my engine bay of any nitrous or work at all done to the car. And I'm usually pretty perceptive when it comes to catching if a car's been worked on or not, even just by identifying which bolts have been loosened and tightened. I'll most likely have to trace the back of the slot to see if it goes to anything at all, or if he just had it wired in before getting to connect it to anything.

And I agree that Cajun, she did do me a favor, I just regret it taking me this long to get back into one lol.

I've already got my long list of mods in order though.
First thing I need to do are get these dents knocked out of the hood, if possible.
Then get the left exhaust surround for the back.
Get some BHR coils as a precaution.
Change all my fluids out with Redline MT90 Tranny fluid and 75W90 diff fluid with some friction modifier, and Amsoil 10W40 for the engine.
Do the SOHN adapter and get the triple canister to have a dedicated Amsoil Sabre premix reservoir.
Upgrade the wheels an tires. Not sure which wheels to go with yet though.
AFE Shortshifter
Upgrade the clutch/FW/PP.
Progress Tech Sways
Upgrade to Solid rear diff bushing.
ALL the bracing. Still debating which ones, but mostly leaning towards the AutoEXE strut tower bars and underbody bracing.
Ohlin DFV coilovers.
Vented hood.
Mazdaspeed front, rear and sides. Considering Odula GT or Type RS Front though.
Odula adjustable CF spoiler.
Save up for a hybrid big turbo build with W/M injection and a V-Mount setup and call it good to go and just fix what breaks.

I'm giving myself about 2 years to get it all done though so I've got plenty of time

Yup :/ I'm also missing the rear wheel wells. I've got a guy in Ohio that I can buy them from, just haven't bought them yet. I'm sure I could pick them up decently cheap from Mazda too. Idk who the previous owner was, but there are random small pieces missing that make no sense to me lol. I'll slowly replace them all one by one though.
