Replacing Engine

Hey, I have an 05 4spd auto trans. and have to replace the engine. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to finding an engine. Any suggestions as far has reliable sources for quality engines. Also, does anyone know the average price range one would cost?

Since you're in the Atlanta area, your best bet is probably to purchase a remanufactured from Jim Ellis Mazda. They also happen to be one of the lowest-cost reman suppliers in the country.

Try this part number first though I've seen it reported as on back order so it may be old inventory data that somebody forgot to delete:

$2400 + $1000 core

If they can't get you that part, this one should still be good ($3100 + $1000 core)

If you don't want to get a Mazda remanufactured engine, you can get yours rebuilt.

Prices will depend heavily on how much needs to be replaced and how much the rebuilder feels like charging. At a bare minimum, expect it to cost $2000 + shipping to get an engine that is still technically failing but will start and idle when hot. If you want an engine that actually makes similar amount of power to new, expect to pay at least $3000 + shipping, if not significantly more.

Don't bother on a 4 speed. Your money would be better spent on buying a clean 6 port with good compression.

But if you must and since you are in Atlanta, send paul@mazmart.com a request for a quote.

Is that where they're located? I had no idea.

Definitely give Mazmart a call and at least give them a chance. They've been an asset to the community and won't steer you wrong.
