Renesis Question

Okay so I have an 07 rx8 and it has to were I can switch it from manual to auto and I was wondering if I wanted to install a renesis engine if that would cause any problems and if I could keep it that way after.

Are you talking about switching from a 6-port auto engine to a 6-port manual engine without changing the transmission?

CelestialGryphon 10-04-2016 08:18 AM

I thought you had to modify all kinds of shenanigans to swap an s2 6port Mt into an s2 auto 6port. The real question is - why not just convert it to a stickshift while you are at it?

Hey now, quit being so mean to dildos. They've saved many marriages. I'm told. :yelrotflm

Okay so i hadnt realized much, new to this, if I want to do engine work to my rx8 what should I do? I want to hold off on turbo till after I graduate from college

Literally nothing. Nothing you can do to this engine short of turbo makes any useful power difference. Save your money.
Except read the sticky threads in the new members forum and get your ignition in shape.

This is the key. If you insist on doing engine work, which I am all for to learn the car more, focus on engine reliability and characteristics. Get your cooling system idiot proof, same with lubrication system. Make sure your valves and fuel delivery are stable and dependable.

This car is made to carve corners. Without turbo charging or adding more rotors (or pistons), you won't be winning drag races. Stick to cornering and practice staying in your power band. Safely, of course.
