Reman motor
hew so I was wondering when Mazda replaces the motor do they replace it with a renman engine from the same year ? Reason I’m asking is I have an 07 rx8 gt with a reman in it. I bought it used so I was not the owner when the motor was replaced. Since the engine was replaced did they replace it with a newer year engine ? When I looked online at the crank sensor location pictures showed that the sensor Is half way open but on my motor the sensor fits into a snug hole , only open part is the top of sensor where it reads.

Engines don't have years. You get one that matches your model, but its parts could be a mix of 2004,5,6,7,8 and new. As I recall there was a revision of the ESS to better cover it, not sure which year. It doesn't affect the sensor function though.

You can't.
You could likely find when it was rebuilt by the tag on the front cover. But as for what years the individual pieces were made, not a chance.
Iirc the revised front cover came to be in 06.
Which means the front cover could be 06-07-08. The rest of the parts could be from 04-08, no way to tell.
