Question on keys

I only received on remote and key from owner when I purchased car. Whats the best way to get another set? Pay more and deal with dealer and get it done right? Or buy a blank from ebay and get the dealer to key it or look for a 3rd party to program and cut?

THANK YOU!

If you go through a dealer, expect to pay $250+ per key.

The cheap way is to buy a blank through ebay. Buy a FOB through ebay (or another site) making sure that the FCC ID matches the FCC ID of the key that you already have. Combined should be $40 or less. Then call around to local locksmiths and find one with the Mazda programming hardware. Most locksmiths buy up 2-4 manufacturer programming hardware, and they know which other local locksmiths have what gear. Usually if the first one you call doesn't have it, they know who does and can point you in the right direction.

Both times I had 1 key and needed a 2nd programmed, the locksmith charged me $25 to program as many keys as I wanted, and would cut them for free.
