Question about my engine
SubscribeI have a 2004 Mazda Rx8 whose engine has died. The engine is not getting any compression is what I was told. So my problem is I need to find a engine to put into it since I can not pay to have a new one put in. The engine before was automatic, so my first question is where can I look for a replacement engine? And does it matter what year the engine is? If I am not suppose to post this here I apologize as I am new to the site. Thanks for any feedback.

Welcome,
First off read the new and potential owners thread linked within my SIG.
Second , you have a 2004 AT. Which means any AT (4 port) from 2004-2005 will fit.
You may be able to find one on here in the FS sections.
Who did the compression test? You should have 3 numbers per rotor and an RPM
Also you may be able to find one at a local scrap yard or you could also contact Kevin at Rotary Resurrection

Rx8Lovin, see the new owner's thread section about how to tell which engine is which, 4 port or 6 port. Unfortunately, the 2004 and 2005 AT 4-port engines are the least powerful, least reliable, most rare, and most expensive.
It's not a good combination.
It's not a good combination. Thanks for the response and I will read over that! I have found one at a scrapyard which is why I asked about what could fit, so thank you for that answer! I will also look on here and see if I can find one. Thanks!
I have found a 2005 engine from a scrap yard. I will have to wait to find out if it is a 4 port or 6 port. Thanks for the information!
