This reminds me of a question I have. Is there a difference between the 2stroke oils that are labeled tc-w3 and not labeled tc-w3? One of my friends told me to make sure I get the stuff labeled tc-w3 and I never questioned it. On road trips, I noticed that most gas stations have cheap looking stuff without that label (never used it), so I have to navigate to a nearby parts store to get what I perceive to be the good stuff. Is the 2 stroke oil without that tc-w3 label not good?

 

You want JASO FC or FD, not TC-W3.

 

TC-W3 is what you want in a seadoo. It's nowhere near ready to lubricate a rotary. JASO FC/FD is much better suited, like Steve says. Lucas Semi-Synthetic 2 stroke oil seems to be the commonly available favourite.

 

All interesting stuff, started to use ash-less premix with 1/2 oz per gallon.

Brilliant advice. I appreciate that. If you premix for an entire tank of gas. On the next fill up. Do you add the oil first or after filling up. Which method would mix better.

I buy the Idemetsu stuff from racing Beat, cost for a case shipped is not too bad. Then just keep a quart in the trunk.
8oz per fillup, each fillup is 14-15 gal, so just over 1/2oz per gallon, and each quart is good for 4 fillups, about 1,000 miles! It works out perfectly

 

I'm currently using the Lucas semi synthetic but saw this at work today and it sounds promising.

 

I've recently begun premixing with Royal Purple HP-2C. It was one of the few I have found that claim to be "ashless" but it's nearly impossible to find in stores. You pay a bit of a premium for the brand as well.

 

Where did you find it at?

 

The best deal I've found was on eBay from Pepboys. A 1 gallon container cost ~$35. Better than $13/qt everywhere else for it.

 

Where did you read that it's ashless? Sounds good from what I've read.
