I bought my 2005 with only 6,800 miles on it in Nov 2007, it had first been purchased Sept of 2006, so the warranty started really late, and it was traded in at a Mercedes dealer where the salesman didn't know it was a fully loaded GT. So being a "2 year old car" with only a year and 6,800 miles of casual driving I got it for $13,000 off original MSRP.

Plenty of non-mechanical reasons for trade in, with "not enough power" being one of the most common.

Well, I got to Cochran at 11:00 today....there was a guy who was in the process of buying the RX8 - I never got a chance to test drive. It was sharp, like new condition - not exactly black - but sort of a metallic charcoal gray.

What a bummer! Thanks for going out there anyways! I appreciate it! I'll just have to keep looking around.

I spoke to the guy who bought it.....he was trading in his 2005 touring - white, body kit installed, he was the only owner - bought it new. 45,000 miles on it. He mentioned the compression was good. Not sure if Cochran will re-sell it or if they will send it somewhere else, but it was a nice series 1. Not sure if they interests you or if you're wanting a series 2.

Interesting, a 1 owner low mileage WWP in the northeast.
It probably won't be around long.

I haven't seen them list a WWP 8 in their inventory so maybe it is gone already. I am now looking at a low mileage (16k) 2005 Shinka that is being sold in Illinois for about $13,000. I have some family that lives about 30 minutes out. I am going to try to see if they can take a look at the car for me. In terms of being an '05, just make sure that the vehicle has been serviced by Mazda for recalls, no flooding damage, etc right? Or should I generally avoid 2004-2005's?

There is also a low mileage R3...but it is in Hawaii! Shipping costs around $1200.

In other news, I test drove a 2011 Grand Touring today at a local VW dealership. The car drove really well (at least in my opinion seeing as I haven't driven many 8's). The car had 50k miles and they wanted $17,000 for it. I just wanted to get a feel for the 8. It just felt right. Different than the Miata.

I own an '04 MT. I think '04 autos should be avoided imho.
If you are interested in an '04, be sure it has had any recalls & PCM reflash done.
