Possibly new owner - Research
Hey everyone,
I've been doing a significant amount of homework on the the RX-8, and I was wondering what is the major issue with 2003-06 engines. Edmunds.com states that the engine just fails, but there are no details. Also, the consumer reviews are all over the place. Any information regarding the 03-06 models would be helpful. Actually any info regarding this car would be helpful.

I am guessing your research has not included the stickies within this subforum? or the red announcement at the top of the page that points you there?
I am going to refrain from repeating myself until you have read through the new owner's thread at a minimum.

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
The reviews are not good, but if you know how to take care of this car, it will run and drives longer than usual. Read the stickies and you should know how to take care of it, good luck.

Any info?
Ok, for starters, if you are willing to fill up with premium every time, don't expect to get more than 16-20mpg, check oil level every other fill-up and add oil when necessary, do stringent maintenance routines that include oil changes every 3k miles or less, 30k tune ups,(coils, plugs, wires) then this is a great car to own.
