Please advise radio/hvac display gone

Hello everyone in new to the rotary world.
so a month ago i got a mazda rx8 2007 best day of my life clean good car immaculate inside and out however there was a eye sore I wanted to sort.
Someone fitted a external box thing that had a USB and a sd card slot however its fitment was driving me nuts it was under the gear stick center tray and out the cup holder so I wanted it gone.

However i was extremely nerves about taking the entire radio out so i switched off the unit and cut the cable then black tape all the ends and then went to turn on my ignition to 2nd stage not crank and noticed my h/vac display was not working or the radio.

Please help i don't want to put a aftermarket in as want it to be as bone stock and original as possible.

Things I've done.
1. Replaced ever single fuse exept the chunky ones just all the blade ones in the foot well and under the hood.
2 removed the stero and faceplate made sure the faceplate was reconected as ive read its a issue.
3. Spent 3 days on this phone looking for a answer.
4.removed the aux/external cable to box adapter thing from behind the stero.
5. Punched my wall with anger .
Now i am here hopeing someone anyone has a clue to what's wrong.
ita a bose one I think we'll there is bose speakers anyway.

is there a fuse inside the unit as not 1 fuse was blowing 😑 so I'm confused to all.

I love the car and it has a mega good sound my daily is a mazda 6 diseal so it's a massive upgrade to sound but I love my music.
right now I have a Samsung soundboard on the back parcel shelf with a power inverter to power it but it sucks.

much thanks 😊 please helpnif you can

It would help to know what the wires you cut were connected to in the head unit. Worst case you need another head unit, but you can get a used stock one. Do the hvac controls still work but nothing shows on the screen or nothing works at all?

it was a aux aftermarket kit thing that someone installed previously to me owning. I think it allows people to plug in a USB or a sd card with music it is no way a standered device. As it was hanging out the cup holder.it was plugged into the back of the head unit. Today I just disconnected the negative battery terminal and left it for 10 secs then had to pump the brake peddle and rotation full lock left then right thankfully the lights went off.
Ac and heater controls work just no screen that shows above the stereo. Ie fan speed, outside temp etc etc

Ok but what did it plug into in the head unit? Was it plugged in or spliced? Depending on how it was connected, the repair will be different. It's possible they ran power to it that needed to continue somewhere and by cutting it you've cut the circuit.
