Paint warranty on 2010 RX8 GT

So i have a few chips and i know the clear coat is gone on my 2010 RX8...im gonna have it detailed and paint sealed in a few months to make tha paint last...but itgotme thinking...

1. Whats Mazda's warranty for paint on their cars?

2. Can I get my insurrance company to cover paint cost if ever?

No warranty unless it happens within the 36k or 3 year and insurance won't cover paint chips. And I highly doubt the clear coat is failing unless it has been wrecked and resprayed. Paint on these cars is one that Mazda did right. My paint still looks spectacular after 13 years and most other RX-8's I see have great paint.

But a good clay bar, polish. seal, etc will do wonders.

Resin Glaze or Mirror Glaze does wonders.

I read the ceramic coating or similar ends up cracking after 2 years...is that true?

How much itcost anyway?

Ill probably detail it once then just cover the car with a whole body paint protector if thats even applicable

No...theres is something called ceramic coating for cars and theres other versions too...look it up...i know some detail shops offer it but im more concerened on the prolonged effect since its permanently bonded with the paint

Oh you mean ceramic clear coat sealant, yeah they don't crack....... But the good ones work, but a standard high detail place will charge you north of a grand for it and on an RX-8 it's not needed, I have never used anything of the sort.

My bosses SLS AMG just had an application of Opti-Coat pro done on his car. All said and done it was $1500.00, it's supposed to last 7 years but I don't believe it and we will never know since he doesn't keep cars that long.

I read that the 7 year life is only possible if you retreat the coat every 2 years...and if you end up getting dents on you paint, which will happen...you end up cracking the coat too

I dunno, my car is 13 years old and has two dings on it. But again that kind of stuff is silly to put on a decade old RX-8 that has not been cared for.
