Hey there I have a rotary aviation OMP adapter and about to install it but i dont want to use the Sohn type reservior setup. It wastes alot of space and seems the bottles used are just $10-$20 off the shelf types and look like crap. Also if you are in an area that needs to use the washer bottle to clean the windscreen, you are forever filling up the low volume Sohn type.

There is a fair amount of room to fit a bottle between the drivers side strut tower, bulkhead/firewall and brake booster (10cm*10cm*25cm gap which opens up wider at the bottom where the inner guard is). Has anyone fitted a bottle there and if so where did you get it? Was it an off the shelf type or from an old 2 stroke motorbike etc..?

I"m thinking to take a universal type reservior and heating it so it can be molded into the available space..

There are plenty of posts about the OMP adapter but nothing on alternatives to the Sohn bottles or using other types of bottles/reserviors...

Yes, you can find examples via google. The brake booster location is OK, but itsi an awkward shape and so are many 2t bike tanks. I started with that, but ultimately used an upside-down catch can attached to the air pump and eindshiwin washer reservoir. It's written up in my Sohn DIY in the DIY section here.

 

Thanks mate I will have a look at your DIY..Do you know if the low coolant level switch can be setup in series? If possible, it maybe a good idea to fit another low coolant level switch for a dash warning of low oil.

 

I haven't had time to try it, but along those lines, I was thinking of using the windshield washer fluid level switch and light. Worst case you just repurpose the existing sensor to oil level, without sacrificing something important, like coolant level.

 

I ended up scrapping the Epitrochoid setup after I relocated the battery to the trunk. I fabbed up a quick bracket to mount the Epitrochoid reservoir in the battery location.
