Oil Light Question

I've searched around and found the oil capacity but have always wondered, at what level is the oil light set to turn on (2005 automatic)? And how much from that point to full?

Most of the time at the lowest mark on your dipstick - so about 1 quart or litre...

Another question, since there are multiple references in the forum:
Is the oil level light in any way connected to the oil pressure sensor or is it just a level light?

Oil pressure I believe is only determined by the pressure gauge. If you are having low oil pressure and a light you may want to check some of the hoses?
Personally I wouldn't drive my car with low oil pressure.

When my light comes on I pull over right away and fill it up. Seems to usually just take shy of 1qt to get to the full line on the dipstick. But I usually just add the little bit left over as I have the vacuum line in the Omp capped for more oil consumption. Eats it up rather quickly.

The oil pressure is not a sensor it is a low pressure switch. If you aren't showing oil pressure then you likely have no oil pressure at all.

Mine is the same. oil light comes on at the low mark and takes 1 quart to reach the full mark.

Holy crap you capped that vac line completely. How much oil do you use?

A lot! I plan on undoing it probably today, the system was clogged, I can't seem to find those vacuum restictors anywhere I guess I'll just fabricate my own. Maybe the machine shop on base is bored and needs something to do. Smells yummy though 😂

probably smokes like all hell at idle. The biggest problem with capping or a restriction. Is it will give more oil when the load is low and vacuum is high. What you need is the opposite of that. More oil when load is high.

I undid it with the spark plug change today, and yes it did smoke a lot at idle and deceleration. On the plus side the lines are clear now 😁
