Oil level check by the book

So any of you guys actually check the oil level by the book?

I found it when the Car actually cooled down a lot that the oil level is actually less compared when you check it 5 minutes after turning off the engine when warm...

I do. I just check when I get gas.

I can't really do it in my garage - it's slightly sloped. Nothing too significant, but it can still throw off the reading.

I tend to keep it a hair below the max line. There is nothing wrong with that.

Slightly below the fill line when cold will read full when warmed up.

Weird.

Most cars do the opposite, as the oil level is higher after sitting overnight. Is this just another quirk of the RE?

reading taken 5 min after shutting off car on level surface - typically my garage or a few S-Hell stations around town.
