Exclamation Normal RPM to rev to on a hot start?

What should an 8 rev to on a hot start? Did some searching and couldn't find a definitive answer. Just a bunch of threads about hot start problems.

Mine revs to about 1500 on a hot start before settling down.

I don't understand your question, are you asking what the engine idle speed should be when the engine is warm?

No. When you first start the car, it revs the engine up before it settles to it's normal idle (around 800 or so on a hot start). My question is what's that RPM that it revs up to before it settles down.

I had a CEL come on after a couple minutes of driving my 8 A LITTLE hard (never pushed the engine above 8k RPM) and I turned the car on and off repeatedly to listen for this compression loss sound because the first time I started it back up after I stalled (forgot to disengage the clutch after spinning out. Go ahead and make fun of me. Nooby mistake, I deserve it lol) it sounded like there was a bit of compression loss. But I started it up less than a second after stalling so I wonder if it just sounded like that because the engine was still spinning as I tried to start it again.

Paranoia got me thinking that my engine wasn't revving as high as it normally does on a hot start, but Kinbote says his revs to about 1500 on a hot start. that's where mine revs to as well so I'm hoping I'm okay. especially because the CEL went away about a half hour later and it hasn't come back (almost a week since it came on) and I haven't heard anything strange while starting up except for that one time I started it after stalling.

It runs great, I'm hoping it was just an ECU glitch from the stalling and then immediately starting the engine. I've been keeping a close eye (and ear!) on how it drives lately to look for anything and nothing out of the ordinary has happened...yet.

Some newer electronics act weird when placed in abnormal situations. Not rx8 specific, but my cobalt's traction control will freak out on restart after stalling.

Also, if the engine was still spinning when you tried to restart it, you would have heard the starter grind against the flywheel.

I'm not quite sure what that graph is showing. is that idle speed? initial rev speed?
