Get a car fax and dealer history report. Yes defiantly get completion test. What year model? How meany miles? Mods or stock? We need as much info as you can get if we are to help you make the best choice.

Sounds like it wasn't driven much but it is past it's time for coil change find out if it's had them changed get compression test and have the cooling system looked at as it didn't get driven much it could have some dry rotted hoses.

Change of car

I've cahnged car to another one that's a 2004 that's done 91,000kms. Still the sport 6spd manual having a compression test done by the dealer before I buy it and I'll be sure to ask about the cooling system etc..

Anything else to look for? I test drove it today and it's a really nice car! Cannot wait to own! Plus the place I'm buying to from has 2 year mechanical warranty so if any issues transmission engine etc.. The place pays for the repairs the only downside to it was after I drove it today, I turned it off and when tried to start it again it wouldnt start.. Opinions? 😞

Please clarify "wouldn't start". Wouldn't turn over or wouldn't fire? Also, how long was it driven? Long drive or a short round-the-block hop? Did you happen to notice the temperature guage while driving, if a long drive?
When asking for a diagnosis on here, as much detail as possible is best as it gives people here a fighting chance of figuring out the problem. There is never a guarantee of a 100% accurate determination due to a lack of actual up-close observation but full details will at least get you a LOT closer to the full details of the issue.

Other than this 2004 having a 2 yr warranty, why did you switch from a 2005 with less mileage? Did the 2005 have no warranty ?

It wouldn't fire, I thi k it's the fact that the guy driving it just shut it off after he had driven it he didn't leave it for a bit and shut it off properly, the temperature was at half of not just a little bit above. And the 2005 was sold when I went back and the dealer put me on to this one

When was the batt last changed? Upgraded starter? When was the coils wires and plugs last changed. As for your warranty it's probably just on labor not parts check on that.

Niteshade makes very good points here, Check on all the things he mentions, along with that compression test. Please don't let your excitement and the seller's pressure to sell you prevent you from checking the key areas of the car's condition. Too many used RX8 buyers here got caught up in the euphoria of the RX8 and bought used cars without doing maintenance checks and wound up with expensive repairs including having to replace failing engines for thousands of dollars. Be safe, not sorry. We all love the car here, but we want you to get your dream car and not a nightmare.

What about the batt and plugs/wires? If it is flooded and you've got a old weak batt trying to deflood will only finish the batt. If plugs or wires are bad it could be why it flooded to start with and will only flood again. I've red that if it floods to badly or to often you'll need new plugs anyway also flooding to often can lead to loss of the engine as it washes out the seals.
