RI newbie with an 06 copper red shinka

Hey guys, newbie here. I just graduated from college back in June and found a job in my field in October. I've been fiddling with cars since I was about 15 and have owned an integra, a supra, and a modified accord (feel free to flame)

Unfortunately a few days after starting the new job I was on my way to work and someone cut me off and slammed on their brakes and with no abs i slide right into the back of the car in front. the damage wasn't terrible but i decided to cut my losses.

so i drove around a family member's pimpin '87 volvo 240dl station wagon for a few months until almost 3 weeks ago when I found my new car. It's an 06 Mazda RX-8 copper red 6-speed Shinka edition that I bought with 45,054 miles for $10k not a scratch or ding on it, until 2 days later when it was parked on the street and someone threw a beer bottle at it (I'm getting a quote to repair next week). I only have a few pics because of all the salt on the roads but here they are:

I dont have plans to modify it but I do like to do my own work on my cars so I know the search button will become my best friend. Look forward to being here!

That car was for sale at a dealer in Rhode Island, right? Warwick area? I was looking at that car, and even called up MNAO about it to get warranty and service history information. Assuming it IS the same car, your engine warranty won't expire till October, so if you haven't gotten a compression test yet, take it in for one just to be sure you know what you got.

Edit: Just looked back and saw the RI plates on the Accord, and now see the west warwick license plate frame, so I'm pretty confident it's the same car

Keep in mind those tires are Blizzak winter tires, they will turn to jello once the temps get around to warming up in the spring. Make sure you swap them out for something more appropriate, since they won't survive till the following winter driving on warm dry pavement.

Also, avoid Flood Mazda for any service. I lived in Providence for 6 years, and Flood had some horror stories out of it on how they treated 8 owners. They tried charging one guy $10,000 for a new engine plus $6,000 in labor. It was only when he got upset about the charge that they "remembered" that it was still covered under warranty. Shady service center there.

Tasca Mazda isn't great either, but a bit better. I had a few run ins there myself. I ended up taking my 8 up to Wakefield MA (yes, 90min away, north of Boston) to Liberty Mazda for compression tests, cat replacement, etc... Too much corruption in RI, no one knows how to treat customers honestly in that state. (I'll stop before I get going...)

Yes sir. Inskip Nissan. That's awesome news! I'll get a compression test done! The dealer told me the number of calls they got for the car after I put the deposit down.

I really shouldn't. 6 years there left a rather large scar on my soul that bursts into rants any time I get talking about that wretched hive of scum and villany.

Yup, Liberty Mazda is the place to go for you then. Several rotorheads on the tech staff, and the service reps are honest, polite, and knowledgeable. A rare combination. Still cheaper to service the car yourself, but for anything you can't do yourself it's one of the better dealers in the country in my opinion.

Sweet looking car dude, aside from the wheels and spoiler it looks identical to mine. Mine's not a Shinka though. But your mileage & cost are right in line with what I paid for mine in December. Enjoy the ride!
