New Tire/Wheel Size questions

New Tire/Wheel Size questions
So I need new summer tires to replace the winter tires I have on my 08 RX8 so I figured I might as well buy and extra set of wheels so I don't have to keep changing tires back and forth on my wheels.
So my question is has anybody increased their wheels size to 19? Mine came stock with 18 and my buddy with just increase his wheel size on his mustang told me I should go up one inch. I know RX8's are a tad different from other cars so I don't know if it would mess with handling, braking, or etc. I'd probably have to redo suspensions if I went up an inch. Anyone's two cents would be appreciated..
And also has anyone changed the recommended tired size(225/45)? I wanted to go 235/35? I've already searched and googled and apparently increasing width might be a bad idea. Obviously I don't know enough so anyone with more insight/experience that would like to share their thought and opinions that would be awesome. Thanks and drive safe!

There's a "Will it fit" thread in the Wheels, tires, brakes... forum that may be of help.
The tire/wheel selection tools at Tire Rack's web site can also be helpful. Besides making sure you don't rub on the fenders, it's generally good to keep the same rolling radius as OEM.

I found this thread to be quite informative. I have no idea why it hasn't been stickied.

Honestly, you probably would have no problems moving up in size, tho I think it would be wiser to move to wider wheels rather than a larger radius. A larger radius will only add a bit of weight and imo 19x8 is a bit of a pizza cutter wheel. I sold my 19x8's for 18x9.5's.
If its the look you are going for then do it up.

Awesome guys.. Thank alot for all the responses and links! I appreciate everyone's two cents on the matter.. I'm still a novice when it comes to my rx8 so everyone's input really helped..
now I can't wait to get some new wheels n tires.. Thanks again everyone.. and drive safe!
Also did anyone have to put new suspensions in after upgrading all that? I know rx8's stock suspensions aren't the greatest and I've read a few times that changing the springs would be a good idea.. but necessary? Thanx again

I say this because my brother got his Evo X, which has a pretty nice suspension stock, but when he upgraded to coilovers it was VERY noticeable. Some argue that coilovers are too expensive and are overkill for daily driving, but I do enough "spirited driving" everyday to justify getting coilovers (IMO). I mean hell, you should be redlining the car once a day anyway, you clearly came here for the fun!
So forget the springs and save up for coilovers.
That's just my 2 cents.

The previous owner on my car swapped the rims for some 18inch (I'm pretty sure they're 18 inch) Kazera rims and the tires say theyre 235/35 I believe. The car handles perfectly fine, not sure if I'm traveling faster or slower than what it would be if it had stock tires, but overall everything is perfectly fine.
