Welcome and congrats. Did you get a proper rotary engine compression test done on the car before your purchase? If not, that is the first thing you need to get done to see what condition your engine is in. It will certainly need an ignition update with new plugs, coils and wires as well as checks on other vital systems. If you haven't already, please read through this link thoroughly. We are all here to welcome you into the club and help you keep your new "baby" happy and healthy for a long time. Before you worry about a new exhaust system you need to know what shape your engine and ignition and cat are in. That needs to be your first priority !

I will definitely look through the link right now! I haven't yet, I'll look and see where in los Angeles I can get such done! That must be why my check engine light is on. But I read around and saw the "What oil" discussion and haven't decided which to use put assuming the thicker since I live in la.

Don't fret too much about which oil. There are dozens (hundreds? thousands?) of opinions, and most of them are right.

But you should get the code(s) read to see why the check engine light is on. That could be anything from a loose gas cap to something expensive. There are a number of places (like most Autozone stores) that will read codes for free.

Just for future reference, will any code reader work or do you need anything special with the rotary engine?

Its just the compression test that needs special rotary equipment
