New Rx8 Owner

Hi this is my first post, tomorrow I think I'm going to buy an Rx8 and I just wanted final opinions. It's a manual white 2005 in what appears to be great condition with 77000 miles on it, for $4000. Coming from a 1996 Mazda 626 with 100 horsepower, how much of a difference in driving do you think it'll be for me?

Hello,

Welcome to the forum.
First and foremost, Get a compression test.

In the bottom of my post within my SIG are two links. Read through the new and potential owners thread BEFORE you purchase it.

You have to test drive for yourself to learn what type of difference it will be.
But as Williard said- compression test and READ those threads in his signature. DON'T go into this car with ignorance.

Will the dealership do a compression test for me? Or how does that work?

Most dealerships will make you pay. Read the threads mentioned. Should all be in there.

Regarding the compression test, which is a great idea along with a full pre-purchase inspection, the compression test for a rotary engine is different than a piston engine. If you can have a rotary specialist or Mazda dealer do the compression check. There is a special computerized tester that works best.

Other than that, the car sounds great. White is sexy on the rex, shows her curves nicely. Low miles though many renesis engines get low compression at ~70k. That price sounds excellent too. What a bargain for a world class sports car! have fun
