New R3 owner

I got a new to me Velocity Red R3 a few days ago from msp282 on the forum. I had looked at a few 8s before a few years ago but ended up with an S2000. The S2000 was great but the small interior and loud highway noise got old.

It has a reman engine with a little over 5k miles on it. It has new plugs, wires, cat, o2 sensors. I didn't see coils in the paperwork so I'm ordering a set tomorrow. I already have or ordered oil, filter, trans fluid, diff fluid, air filter, and cabin filter.

Pressing the bluetooth button doesn't do anything, so I'll be looking into that.

I'm not a fan of the Recaros so I will probably swap in some stock seats. I really liked the Shinka seats in an 8 a test drove years ago. Not sure how hard those are to get though.

Holy **** man, I love recaros. My fat *** is too big for them though. Welcome to the club. I think that's the first time I've ever heard a complaint about the s2k. I get road noise in my 8 and a fair amount of it but this is colorado, our roads are as craggy as a teenage smokers face.

Congratulations!
I really wanted to love the S2k but it just didn't 'speak my language'. The RX8 and especially the R3 is not known for low road noise...
Good job on fluids, coils etc! The bluetooth operates only with phone calls iirc. Cannot play music through it.
Enjoy the car!

The S2k was a blast to drive on twisty roads and even around town. 80+ on the highway was just very loud, mostly due to it being a convertible. The convertible roof vibrates at high speed and if another car/truck was next to you all their road noise came right into the car. The engine was louder than the RX8 as well at 4-4500rpm. I would wear ear plugs on any trips over a few hours.

The RX8 is by no means a quiet car, but it is a pretty big improvement over the S2k.

The bluetooth is supposed to beep if you press the button, but I'm getting nothing. Not sure if it has a separate module or if it is part of the stereo but I need to pull the dash apart to replace the center AC vent. I'll look into it more then.

Yeah... not gonna lie, my car drone's a little when I'm at 5k, but I'm also running a big *** single exit exhaust with a resonator. It gets loud. Sometimes. But.... There happens to be a tunnel in downtown Denver that if you hit it at the right time at night... makes for lots and lots of smiles. No one is around, cops are usually chasing someone down somewhere in the city... You can get pretty far in 2nd through it.

The R3 came with Recaro seats as standard equipment. They will match the rear seats and door panels. If you decide to swap in different seats from another 8 you'll also need the rear seats and door panels to match the front seats.

I'd do an R3 interior swap if it was all the same. That'd be cool. Be an update, instead of a back-date.
