PA New owner in PA

Hi forum!
I'm new to the RX8 world, but probably a bit late to the game.
About 4 months ago, I was in the market for a "fresher" car. My 04 corolla (the 4th corolla I've had in 16 years) had 215K, still ran great but needed about a grand in work to pass inspection.
Ever practical, I began scouring craigslist, autotrader, etc for another toyota corolla, honda civic or mazda protege.
When performing my search, a mazda ad popped up and I thought to myself, "hmmm..I've never heard of this kind of car" I clicked the ad and Angels began singing!
I spent the next few months researching. This site has been invaluable! I can't thank everyone enough for all of the information, hints, tips and know-how.

Thankfully, I have a good friend mechanic who had an RX7 and is quite familiar with the Rotary Engine. I took him with me when I went, and he gave it a good once-over. We insisted on the compression test, so the the small used car dealership sent it to Mazda a couple of miles away.
Compression test came back great - and attached to the printouts was the information on a new engine. The one in the car has less than 19,000 miles. yay.

Nutshell -- I'm now the proud owner of a 2004 Velocity Red RX8. (Vivian - Viv, for short)
I'm a 42 yr old mother of 2 grown kids, and when I'm cruising in Viv, I feel completely bad-***, insanely happy and totally indulgent! She's got every option except navigation (which is ok -- didn't really want that anyway). Her only drawback is that she's a total gas sucker. But I knew that going into it.

I gave her a very nice hand-job on Friday evening and now she shines like a new penny.
I look forward to learning more, and many, many miles of pure bliss.
I'm in PA, between Harrisburg and Baltimore, btw.

thanks for the welcome.
I work about 30 min from Hershey.

forgot to add in my first post; Viv is a 6-speed MT with no body mods. I may be in the minority, but I think she's most beautiful with no changes. Love the curves and lines, and I prefer the profile with the spoiler vs without.

Hey welcome to the club, the car looks great. Too bad its red I'm with you it looks a lot better with the spoiler

Just to give some firendly advice, do a lot of searching, and read all of this. It will probably answer most of your questions to begin with.

https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...4/#post3663963

Then lookup the 100 Dollar thread for more things to help.

To get the most out of your searches go to google and type in

Site:rx8club.com xxxxxx

Then write your search info in the place of xxxxxx
