Howdy all
Long time luster (see forum join date...). I'm 'agnostic' when it comes to brands, but love love love a driver's car.

Finally bought an RX8 after many side paths:
- 3 RX7s (87 GXL, 500whp 87 T2, 90 GTUs)
- 1 C5 Corvette

The 8 kept 'calling' to me. With S2 prices finally reasonable, I picked up a cherry 1 owner 24k mile '09 R3 from Miami and drove it 1200 miles home last weekend.

Initial impressions:
-This a driver's car. Point, shoot, arrive. Weightless.
-Recaros are tight. I'm athletic 205lbs 6'3" sitting ON them, not IN them.
-I LOVE the ROTARY! Vette had 505whp 402ci. This little dorito machine is more fun.
- highway range is the same as my bladder.

Plans:
Ceramic coated Header
midpipe
Tint
Coils, wires, plugs
Premix

Glad to finally be an owner!!
Thanks to Steve Dallas and others for informative threads.

Curious about the ceramic coated header plans. Will you reuse the oem or go aftermarket?
Unless you're going FI or driving with major high revs for long periods, there's no real need for ceramic coating. There are far better ways to spend that effort and money

Otherwise, very nice ride!

Ceramic coat

Welcome aboard, Acroy!

I just had my turbo manifold and downpipe ceramic coated last week. I used a shop in Arlington called Specialty Performance Coatings. The work was done in less than two weeks, and the results are pretty good. I do not have photos, unfortunately. (The car and parts are in a storage unit). If you do decide to get some stuff coated, give Michael a call.

Steve Dallas is one smart dude, be sure to read through his thread. Lots of good ideas, and he takes the time to test before/after and post results. Its high quality stuff!

Lastly, if you are looking for premix, fluids, or just want to talk rotary, give my buddy Ari at RX7.com a call, it's a rotary shop in Garland. He has been spinning doritos for the better part of 20 years, and is always eager to help. He also stocks Idemitsu premix and synthetic oil, as well as tune up parts and other goodies.

Enjoy your new car!

Thanks Both!
The ceramic coating is just to reduce underhood temperature (especially with a Black car in TX!) I had a Jet hot coated header on the '90 GTUs and it made a world of difference.

I had not thought of just coating the stock exhaust manifold. I understand power gains from a header are minimal - so I might just do that.

Thanks for the recommendation of Specialty Performance Coatings. I've used Jet Hot and Swain Tech, have not tried SPC and did not realize they were local.

Is RX7.com and Rotary Performance the same?? both in Garland? I have utilized the services of Chris @ Rotary Performance in the past.

Ari used to work with Chris at Rotary/Reliable Performance. Then they parted ways, and Ari took the website and he now works for himself. Strangely enough, both businesses share an address. Chris in the front half, Ari in the back half.

My coating prices were reasonable. 175 for two pieces.
