What's up everyone? I'm sort of new from Southern California, Orange County a bit more specifically. By sort of, I mean I've been on here for about two years lurking. That said I am certainly new to the community! I was planning on buying an 8 back when I joined but things fell through and then I ended up buying a bike a few months later in addition to the car I already had, rather than selling my car and buying an 8. Looking back at how things have worked out, that was certainly the way to go and I'm glad everything has worked out as it did. I love my bike
I had always planned on having an 8 as my next car, it was all just a matter of time. Coincidentally, that time finally came. A coworker of mine had been trying to get rid of his white 2007 6-speed with no luck for a while. He was over dealing with craigslist so we talked about it and he ended up mentioning a great price. It has 98K on the odo, but Mazda replaced the engine under warranty at 88K, along with the catalytic converter. I could swing it and figured I probably wouldn't get a better opportunity for an 8, so I went for it. I just picked the car up this morning and am LOVING IT!
I fell in love with the RX-8 two years back, a friend of mine had one and I thought the way it sounded and made power was amazing. I drove it a few times and loved the way it felt and made me feel. I knew then I had to have one.
Naturally it has a few little issues; it needs new brakes, the coolant level sensor is broken (common 8 issue from what I've read) and he was missing the remote for keyless entry. I've already ordered brakes, but I'll take care of the next bits shorty. I also plan to do the "First $100" mods that I read about, the OPs username escapes me but big props and thanks to him!
It's a huge step up from the 2003 Eclipse I had before and I do miss that car a little but I completely forget about it as soon as I walk up to the 8.
Welcome! Hope you continue to enjoy your 8! You'll find a wealth of knowledge and helpful people here!! I'm not from OC but I believe there are several who are

Thanks for replying and thanks for the welcome! I was starting to think this thread would get overlooked haha. I feel that I'm pretty knowledgeable about this car, thanks to this forum. I did a ton of research back when I was shopping for an 8 the first time and naturally brushed up on it before buying this one. This forum is truly amazing, it seems like there are a lot of good people here that have been kind enough to share what they know with everyone else.
