I just bought my first rotary car after wanting one for a long time. The RX8 came out when I was in college and was too expensive to afford and then there's always been a reason to not get one... until recently. I found an '06 Grand Touring with 108k miles for $4k so I bought it. It's the six speed and that's what I wanted, so far I love it.

It has a few dings on it so I'm thinking about putting an inexpensive Maaco paint job on it and have the dings taken out.

It's so much fun to drive. Not terribly fast but I love taking it around the tight highway entrance ramps.

Any my advice would be appreciated. I have a few questions so I'll be back to ask them.

Did you have the engine compression checked with a rotary specific compression tester?

The compression was good, he said that the engine was replaced at 90k. He seemed like a decent enough guy and I didn't really have any reason to think he was lying to me.

Does anyone have any experience with Maaco paint jobs? Decent enough for a $4K car?
