new and looking for a rx-8

Hi I have just joined up as thinking about getting one of these but all I keep hearing is they need an engine rebuild at around 60-80k which most have these days and putting me off but really like them.

so thought this was the place to be to get the real info on them and what to look for and even if this is true or not?

Grant

Yes, it's the place. I gather you haven't read the big red announcement next to the "New Thread button ? Or the New and Potential Owners Start Here sticky thread below that?

It addresses the concerns you have, and many more you don't even known that you will have yet. That perception isn't complete myth, as there is a basis in fact, but there is far far more to the story that you need to educate yourself on.

It's a whole different kind of car to maintain, but i do enjoy owning this car. Anyway, good luck with your search.

Keep up with basic maintenance and you'll be fine, my first one lasted up to 96k before someone hit me and it got totaled. Hoping for the same with my second one!

I love the RX-8. I've had two of them and had to do maintenance on both of them and major work *covered under warranty*. My second one I got with an aftermarket warranty and its covered everything that needed fixed. I actually have mine up for sale right now but I can promise I'll miss it extremely bad once I sell it and probably buy another one again one day.
