Hello! So this is my sorta introductory post. I'm a new-ish rx8 owner going onto my 3rd? Year with the car, this being my first time on a forum. It's a 06 Red A/T. This car has been fun to own, have a cat delete, hks single exit, h&r springs and some esr wheels. It was good to me until during a canyon run it started misfiring REALLY bad. After replacing the plugs, wires, coils, everything ignition pretty much and replacing all fluids and filters it still runs REALLY badly. Barely wants to start and cuts out really bad over 1/4 throttle. My question is this, and before people start ******* on me I made sure to research this, I KNOW that the REW swap is possible in an rx8, what I am curious is if an AUTO REW works on an AUTO rx8 Trans. I know the manual versions work together but I have yet to find an auto swap thread. My main goal is a solid 300 HP that keeps the stock Trans, and all functionality of a stock 8. I was eyeing the cx racing swap kit since it comes with everything minus engine and wiring. Does anybody know the Trans would work on the engine or is it really only feasible on the manuals? Oh an here is a picture of the 8 when it was "cleaner"

 

If you are only shooting for 300hp, the renesis should be able to get you there. 350hp is roughly the safe cap for the renesis if done right.

For Rew swapping the CXracing kit is a decent place to start. However it does not cover everything you will need by a long shot. Expect it to be about 10-15k in supporting mods to get the engine running +10~15k for the engine/turbo. Versus an rx8 turbo kit for probably 7-8k. I am not sure how well the auto trans supports power.

 

The CX racing kit I'm looking at comes with all the mounting and a turbo kit for it for 3500, I found a 13 RE non W for 7100 shipped, is wiring and tuing that much more? I had budgeted 17k all in with 6-7k for wiring, tuning. Anything else that might come up
