new here, looking for parts advice

Hi, long time lurker first time poster. Actually, these forums helped me with resoldering my AC temp dial several years ago!

Anyway, I wanted to ask some questions about a current problem but I don't seem to be able to post in troubleshooting yet? Figured that would be the better place to talk about my aging oil lines, and where to get replacements.

You can ask here until you have10 post and 30 days of membership.

Racing Beat makes replacement oil cooler lines. If you mean the OMP lines I don't think there are too many alternatives to Mazda OEM.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll keep them in mind in the future. After looking through some more DIY/parts threads I ended up ordering a kit from Banzai Racing. Seemed like a better idea than replacing them with the OEM lines that will just degrade again. (And were half the cost of the ones at RB).

The OEM lines are really good actually. Good luck with your kit, it should work just fine.

Oh I didn't realize. I knew about the recall in 08 but I guess they fixed those issues in later productions?

Because of the recall, the new OEM part is free of the defect. Production dates affected are RX8 vehicles produced from April 23, 2003 through October 15, 2007. You would be correct if your car was made post 2008.

Oh, I was just referring to the newer version of the part. Mine's an 05 but I didn't get it until after that recall expired and I don't know if they were ever replaced.

Er... recalls don't usually expire. You can call Mazda with your VIN and confirm what recalls have been done on it.

Oh ya, actually I've done that before but it was a while ago. But after checking again and looking through some more threads here it looks like the oil line recall was never approved in the US.
