Hello All,
I recently acquired a 2005 RX8, 90K miles and running lol. Paid a whopping $350 bucks it has been sitting for about a year however the engine runs as it should, no smoke on start up and shows great compression.
My plans for the car are too Autox, and track the hell out of it and do some unique touches. A little bit about me I am a Miata nut I have 2, a 1991 British Racing Green Miata and an imported 1993 RHD Eunos Roadster which has the extremely rare factory supercharger kit and a TON of mazdaspeed bits. (attaching that build thread below.) So for this RX8 even though it is a beater I want to find some odd parts. for example have been able to find all mazdaspeed suspension components. my next challenge is finding the air intake kit specifically GRMS-8M-K30. it is evading me. So if you have or know someone that has it let me know!
I will be posting photos soon just need to get some stuff sorted first!

Welcome to the club. Getting a running RX8 for $350 (hell, even a parts car) is a steal can’t help with intake but yesterday my Miata engine overheated and now doesn’t start. 1991 Eunos, know a good source in Miami for engines by chance?

Hey Cayman,
Yeah man and the interior is insanely clean compared to the outside.
Sad to hear your miata died but I do know a place! It is in Orlando but they have great motors for a good price:

The stock intake is the best option. You might get 1 hp with the AEM/MS one, it's not worth it. Any other intake is a downgrade. So if you just want the MS sticker, that's fine, but just stay away from other intakes.
Holy crap@ your Eunos thread. This will keep me warm on those cold winter nights at sea.

Hello Everybody,
Sorry for my absence I have been super busy with work and school and getting things done on the RX-8. Well here it is its an 05 "Sport" has the Big brakes and OEM Tokico shocks and 91K Miles and paid a whopping $350. So in my absence I totally refreshed the front end repainted everything for the bumper support, cleaned the engine bay and saved the headlights from a foggy death. My biggest "mod" that I did were fixing the brakes. I took apart the calipers and rebuilt them entirely and repainted them silver for the OEM look. I used Duralast GT front rotors, Duralast rear blanks, Brembo OEM Replacement Front and Rear pads and even did Goodrich Brake Lines. Now my brakes overpower the bald dry rotted tires. Speaking of tires, wheels and tires are well deserved for this tired looking RX8 I found a set of used tired but only 1500 Miles on them still have the little hairs on them, They're Yokohama Advan AD08s (17/40/255) just looking to get some wheels but I have a great set in mind will be a surprise. More updates to come! After the wheels I will either be a Resonated Mid-Pipe or looking into some suspension!

Damn man... what did the previous owner do to that poor 8? Some people really shouldn't be owning this car.
edit: appears to be the wrong cap on the overfill bottle and missing the clips for the airbox. Both really minor but should be rectified. Best of luck!

Hey Cayman,
Dont feel too sorry this car had a pretty cool past life. The original owner since new was a movie producing company and the car was a test car for stunt drivers and that company is the same recording studio that filmed all 3 Bad Boys and a couple Fast and Furious movies. and it actually has a very detailed maintenance history all done at Mazda.

Thanks!
It runs great as well and shifts smoothly. Going to change plugs and plug wires and stay on top of all forms of maintenance. probably a big radiator eventually.

Definitely an awesome deal for that car!! It is however a base model ad not a Sport. The lack of DSC gives it away. But honestly it doesnt matter. I have an 04 Sport and I love the car! And that's an incredible deal for $350!!
