New Engine put into mazda rx8 help

hi guys, I just put a new engine into my mazda rx8 2004 manual 6 speed.
The previous engine got messed up and I went and got a new one at the junk yard. The new engine is already in the car and it works. BUT it wont stay on. It only stays on if i roll it down a hill and kick start it. (if thats the right term) but it stays on until i hit the brakes and come to a stop. I thought it was the fuel pump so i went to the junk yard again and got a fuel pump. it works fine. but then i realized that there is image popping up with a key/car on the dash.

Conclusion: Do i need to reprogram the computer? Can i do that myself? also, the car is not flooded, no leaks, everything is good. It just wont stay on.
Thank you guys so much in advance ,

a junk yard motor and fuel pump are not new. how many miles on junk parts? did you compression test your "new" engine? did you test the fuel pump? did you do the 20 brake stomp? the key is the immobilizer

Leave the computer alone (unless you swapped that too for some reason, in which case swap it back). If the car/key symbol flashes rapidly when you turn the key, and the starter doesn't crank, then you need Mazda to reprogram the immobilizer (which you can't do yourself for obvious reasons).

Otherwise, if it spins but doesn't fire, check that you've wired the coils, spark plugs and injectors correctly. The injectors especially are easy to mess up.

This is in addition to the whole thing about what condition your new motor is in. It was in a junkyard for a reason.
