New chica :)

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and no RX-8 (yet)... but I have my heart set on one for my next project. I just came on here to browse and learn more about them before I can give into my new found obsession, and find one of my own.

I've had a few project cars over the years and im ITCHING hard for another one... my latest one just got "totaled" when my husband got in an pretty minor accident... but it felt best to turn it into a beater instead of bringing it back to it's "glory" so I stripped it so he can DD it instead of the Evo.

Otherwise, currently have a Subaru wagon & an Evo IX sitting in the garage.

Pics for fun:

My family car/mama mobile: (I love this car for it's utility so can't trade it in for an RX-8 otherwise I'd be on that so fast, lol)

The Evo

Thanks for looking. I'm just torturing myself signing up when it's not feasible to add a 4th car at the moment, but I love learning about new platforms so here I am!

Welcome.
Good luck with your search.
Be sure to read the new owner stickies.
Most importantly, be sure that you get a rotary specific compression test on any 8 you want to buy.
Good luck!

Welcome to the forums! There's a ton of knowledge and friendly people here!! That's a good looking IX you've got. Is that a gto beside it?

Thank you!

Im looking for a project car when the time is right, so non-running will likely be okay. I've been browsing co-part as well.. I'd rather pick one up for cheap and go over it myself. That's what I love. We'll see what's available when the time comes. I've rebuilt a handful of engines before... though Rotary engines are totally new to me, what better way to get to fully understand the way it works?! We'll see what I'm ready to dive into when the time comes.

My husband went to a Cars & Coffee today, I didn't go this time, and what does he do? He texts me a picture of a beautiful RX8 that was there. What the hell! Lmao!

l0rd v8r (love the name, huge star wars nerd here :P ) - No that is not a GT0 (Same family tho - GM). That is my former "project car". It's a Cavalier gone "CavFire" I bought it when I just turned 18, and have held onto it for the last 11 years. It used to be blue, came with an OHV engine which I built, turbocharged, then pulled it for a DOHC engine swap. I pretty much overhauled the whole car. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I learned a TON on it, and it helped me get to where I am today... It just rolled 80k miles and is a perfect DD/Beater for my husband now that I returned it to mostly stock.

It had STD R5 coilovers on it, which I'm exited to learn that STD also make them for RX8s.

Thanks I'm also a huge Star Wars fan obviously.

I couldn't tell on the car - I was judging the roof line. Didnt look long enough for a gto but I wasn't too sure. I looked at a gto before the rx8 but was twice the cost lol

So far I love my 8. I've learned a lot mechanically from it

I'd like to get "BobaFettish" as a license plate, but it's too long, any variation, lol.

GTOs don't really do it for me, lol... I really love everything the 8 has to offer.

Star Wars + Evo tells me you would appreciate this pic:

My best friends car. It still has that tag, though is completely not streetable any more so there are no pics with the tags on that are any more recent. It's up for sale after he decided to race more for cheaper: FS [Mid-Atlantic]: Shop built Time Attack Evo 2006 IX MR - evolutionm.net

Be sure to research rebuilding before you commit to it.
Even though it's a simple design, from what I understand, it's a very precise process.

^Yep! I had a 2007 G5 GT, performance red tintcoat. It had a full engine back 2.5" ZZP exhaust + tune, koni's and eibach sportlines, and Vauxhaul astra rims.

Good stuff, people under estimate them. The interior sucked donkey ***** on them, but they were pretty decent cars. I was looking at the ZZP SC kit before I 180'ed and traded it in on the R3.

Mine had Recaros so I didn't hate the interior that bad, haha.

Yeah, it went through a phase where it had pink accenting, lol.

The Cobalt SS turbo sedan is a pretty awesome sleeper of a car. I personally would not own one, but I can dig it.

I don't care for the overall shape of the Cobalt sedans, but the LNF is a very good motor and responds really well to simple mods and a tune (what is in the Turbo SS's). If it was the type of vehicle I was looking for, the motor is what would sell me, lol. I will always have a soft spot for the SS coupes too :P

I needed a 4 door/wagon type, I even considered the horribly ugly HHR SS... JUST for the LNF in it, lol... but ultimately couldn't pass up the Subey that landed in my lap.

So fast forward awhile, I just picked up this 04 GT 6spd a couple weeks ago. Recent engine rebuild done by Rotary Resurrection. So in love with this car!
