Need troubleshooting help

Hello, I am looking for some help. I changed a clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing on a 2006 RX8. It’all put back together and tried to start. The engine turns, it sounds like it wants to start but it does not. Any trouble shooting suggestions?

Thank you!
Dave

Check the neutral safety switch connection.

But if that's the issue, wouldn't the car not even try to crank at all? It would act the same way as if you didn't press in the clutch all the way, just dead silence.

OP, did you only touch the transmission components? Nothing else?

Try the de-flood process first.

thank you for the replies. Yes, it was only the transmission. Prior to the work, the car was running fine and started right up. I will try the deflooding as well but, what confuses me deflooding is why it wouldn’t have started when I frst tried. Never had those issues before

Thanks!

Depending on how long you were down, the battery may have weakened if you didn't keep it charged.

Thank you all for the help! The car just needed to be deflooded. After 6 cranks with the peddle to the floor to expel fuel, it started on the 8th try by featuring the peddle. 👍
